A wise man once said…

“A tired dog…

Is a happy dog.”

I think Toby agrees.

I don’t think many words are needed for this botched self-portrait.

“The greatest pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself too.” – Samuel Butler

Toby’s Favorite Thing…

Posted on February 17, 2011

In the whole wide world is to take a bath. He loves it more than hot dogs and peanut butter.

Okay, so maybe that’s just wishful thinking on my part. The exact opposite is true: Toby hates baths with the fiery hot passion of a thousand suns.

As you can see:

(Please note the muddy paw prints everywhere. We’d just been out for a hike and this boy was DIRTY.)

You can just see the dread in his eyes.

Ahh, we’ve moved from dread to loathing.

And then he veers off course and heads straight into malevolence!

“Dear Lord, forgive me for the poop I’m about to unleash in her shoes.”

Have I mentioned how much he loves baths?

But as quickly as it starts, the torture is over.

But for the final insult, he’s unable to climb out of the tub himself. And his loving mother is too busy taking photos of his misfortune to help him. Mwahahahaha…

“A little help here…?”

I’m not totally heartless, so I set the camera down, dried him off, and opened the door.

Toby never moves as quickly as when he’s trying to either get to a treat, or get as far away from the bathtub as he possibly can.

Behold, the lightning-fast beagle butt!

Peace.

“Dogs are our link to paradise. They don’t know evil or jealousy or discontent…

To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring…

It was peace.” - Milan Kundera
