More to come! I’ve been under the weather, but I’ve got a lot of photos to show you! Stay tuned.
Vasquez Rocks!

The Hubs and I love to go hiking. Like most things we enjoy, it allows us to get away from the city and all its people for a short while. And a hike gets bonus points from me if it affords some great photo opportunities. I’m happy to report that Vasquez Rocks did not disappoint.

Located just north of Los Angeles in Agua Dulce, the Vasquez Rocks are located along the San Andreas Fault and are a really popular place to film movies and TV shows like Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Star Trek, Outer Limits, and Bonanza.

And we could see why they’re so popular. These rocks just rise up out of the ground and look so alien compared to the landscape around them.

As we went along, we realized that there really was no right or wrong way to explore the rocks. There were official marked trails, but there were many more unmarked, “Hey-let’s-check-this-out” kind of trails. We tended to choose the latter.

And yes, this park is dog-friendly. (Dogs are supposed to be on-leash, but we saw several people who chose to ignore that rule.)
If you look closely, you’ll see a couple with their small dog. I was too far away to get a good shot, but not far enough away to keep me from trying.

If you stick to the official trails, it should take about an hour or so for you to hike through the park. However, if you go off-trail, be prepared to take longer and to experience a more rigorous hike.

The payoff is amazing. With it’s numerous unofficial trails, caves, and places to climb, it’s a great place to explore.

And it’s beautifully photogenic, too.

I’m not done yet!

There’s more from our drive up the PCH through Central California! These photos were taken on Highway 46 from Cambria to Paso Robles, and OH MAN was this drive stunning.

I was That Guy driving down the highway, holding up traffic (which was, thankfully, pretty sparse since it was a Monday), and pulling off the road every 1/4 mile. But it was just too beautiful not to stop and take it all in.

See the water? Okay. Do you see the small mound coming up out of the water? Well, that’s actually not small at all. It’s Morro Rock in Morro Bay, where we visited the day before (and I posted about here.) This shot was taken about 30 miles away and we loved being able to see it from a different point of view.
Once again, I must insist that if you’re in the area, take some time to drive the Pacific Coast Highway. It was an amazing getaway from the hustle and bustle of LA, and we can’t wait to drive it again!
