Iowa, Part IV: Family Fun

Posted on August 21, 2010

A trip back to my home state wouldn’t be complete (or even appropriate!) without visiting as many family members as I can. I was lucky enough that my trip coincided with some cousins visiting from their respective homes in Texas and Ohio. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen these guys, and when I was asked to take some family portraits, I jumped at the chance. Here are some of my favorite candid shots from our wacky session.

So handsome! (And far too grown-up!)

Love love love love this shot.

At the end of our session, we were walking out of the park and I happened to turn around just in time to catch this sweet moment between mother and son. All together now: Awwwwww….

Fun fact: During the shots with just the adults, these two boys were busy pelting each other with acorns. If you look closely in this picture, you can see him holding his stash of acorns in his shirt. Because if he’s got them in his possession, he’s much less likely to be hit with them. Ha!

Iowa, Part III: Riley & Family

Riley is a curious little white fluffball of fun. When I got together with his family for some pictures, he just sort of wandered around the park while we took care of business.

But when it came time for his closeup, he snapped right to attention.

Love this shot. He was 100% white and clean when we got to the park, but he left a little… wet & green around the edges.

Iowa, Part II: Axle

Axle was added to my brother’s family a few months ago, and this was the first time I met him. He’s SUCH a sweetheart. All he wants is love, cuddles and attention, and you all know I was more than happy to give it.

So shy!

I love this shot. He’s been with my brother just a short time, and he’s already a big Daddy’s Boy.

Hot dog neck!

Welcome to the family, Axle! I was so glad I got the chance to meet the new boy. :)

Iowa, Part I: Beasley

Posted on August 18, 2010

I’m back in sunny California after spending a week back with my family & friends in Iowa. I had an awesome seven days filled with fun (my 10-year high school reunion), dogs (my parents’ and brother’s), and relaxation. I had the opportunity to take loads of pictures and I can’t wait to share them with everyone!

First up is Beasley, the five-pound poodle who thinks he’s a 100-pound Rottweiler. Behind this white fluff is a vicious monster. ;)

Looks pretty mean, eh?

Stay tuned! More to come! :)

Big and Small

Posted on August 8, 2010

The vast majority of dogs that competed in yesterday’s agility competition were Aussies, Border Collies, and other larger breeds.

(Check out the eyes on this guy!)

But this competition wasn’t limited to big dogs. Behold! The mighty… TOY POODLE!

See how AGILE and NIMBLE he is! Leaping over tall hurdles in a single bound!

But here’s the kicker: He was REALLY good! He tore up the course and looked like he was having a blast the entire time. Just goes to show – you don’t have to be huge to run with the big dogs! :)
