Whew!

This is by far the most photos I’ve had to work with at once. Final tally: 850 pictures from this weekend’s wedding. I’ve finished the pre-editing, and have moved on to actual editing of about half of them so far (which sounds like it’s more than it really is). And I’m trying out a new slideshow thingamabob (that I’m hoping will load properly onto Blogger), so I’m anxious to get the rest of the pictures done.
Until then, here are a couple more teasers.
I’m fairly certain she told me to shut up and stop making her cry moments after I took this picture. ![]()

Ack! Photographer sighting! (Note: Don’t let The Hubs near my camera while I’m working.)

A calm moment right before the ceremony. I love this shot.

The wedding was fantastic. Our old pals are finally married and everything was beautiful. The pictures turned out wonderfully (if I do say so myself).
This one needs some explaining. The Groom has a serious affinity for cheese. His first word as a baby was “Cheese.” So… we grabbed some cheese. ![]()

One of these goofballs belongs to me.

LOVE this picture. Love it love it love it.

Special People

Here’s another special person I’ve mentioned before. She is the Hubs’ grandma and tomorrow would have been her 92nd birthday. She passed away on December 22, 2007 after a long illness, one that many people expected to be much more brief than it turned out to be.
She was diagnosed with cancer in July 2006 and the family was told that she had only months to live. This devastated all of us, especially since she’d always been exceptionally healthy. The Hubs and I were married in September of that year, and we were elated that she was able to be there.
A year later, she was still with us, surprising all her doctors and those who didn’t know just how strong-willed she was. She was a deeply religious person and we all thanked God every day that she was with us, and was living a happy life.
She went her whole life without big indulgences, but during her final years, she allowed herself a few. Every Tuesday, she’d go to the local JCPenney and have her hair done and her nails painted. She loved showing off that week’s nail polish shade, and often laughed at how goofy the name of the shades were. She especially loved any shade of pink. And oh, how those ladies at the salon doted on her. They were smitten with her immediately, just like everyone else.
Gradually, though, her health did decline. But we were all in a little bit of denial. She’d beaten the odds and appeared healthy and happy, and we weren’t ready to admit that her body was slowly giving out.
On December 22, 2007, her body had finally had enough. We were truly thankful that we’d gotten to say our goodbyes to her, and that we’d had those several months of “bonus time” with her. It’s always tough to lose someone that you love, but we all knew that she was happy, that she was no longer suffering, and that she was with her beloved husband, and also her Lord.
And that made us happy.
